Preparing for your appointment, and knowing what might happen helps everything run smoothly.

  • Please carefully check the time and location of your appointment.  You will receive an e-mail confirmation, and you can also check by logging in to our digital healthcare platform.
  • Please e-mail the secretary if you think you may need a procedure (eg: minor surgery).
  • Please allow enough time for your appointment. Appointments are routinely 25 minutes, but clinical requirements can vary, and sometimes further examinations, investigations or procedures are required on the day for you or other patients.
  • If you have a minor procedure you may need to wait for a while afterwards to ensure stability before leaving the hospital.
  • We understand that sometimes your plans change, and if this is the case, please contact the office immediately by e-mail, or if before 2pm on the same day, by phone. A cancellation fee may apply (please see pricing).
  • At your first appointment please bring a list of your medications or upload a copy onto our digital healthcare platform. Please subsequently tell us if these change.
  • On arrival please check into the reception.
  • If during your consultation with Mr Wood it becomes apparent that a further investigation or procedure is required, there is likely to be a further charge for this. Please feel free to ask about this before it is performed.  On some occasions it is best if this is performed on a future occasion.
  • During your consultation, Mr Wood may recommend a follow up appointment or surgery. You are expected to initiate the booking through the office or the digital healthcare platform (consultations only).
  • You will receive by e-mail a copy of Mr Wood’s letter to your GP or referring healthcare professional.
  • If during your consultation a surgical procedure is offered as an option, Mr Wood will explain what it involves, the alternatives, the benefits and any risks. You will be given the opportunity to ask questions, and express a preference for the type of anaesthetic  you might have.
  • If you are taking anticoagulants please ask Mr Wood whether you should reduce or stop these before your operation.
  • The consent form with accompanying information will be either sent to you as an electronic link for you to read and complete in your own time, or you can manually sign a consent form on the day.
  • You will be asked to attend the hospital at least an hour before the start of the list so that you can be adequately prepared by the healthcare team. There are usually multiple patients on the list, and you may be at any position on the list.
  • Please allow sufficient time, as afterwards you will need to wait for your condition to stabilise, and for discharge medication and documentation to be complete.
  • After the operation, please take any postoperative medication as prescribed. If it might run out before your next appointment, please contact the office for a prescription, or request some more from your GP.
  • Please make a follow up appointment in 2-3weeks, unless instructed otherwise. This can be done by logging in to the digital healthcare platform or by contacting the office.
